Shovel Knight's Specter of Torment Expansion Release Date Confirmed

Players will get to control the new Specter Knight character in Shovel Knight’s upcoming DLC expansion.

Developer Yacht Club Games has officially confirmed that the Specter of Torment DLC expansion for their hit 2014 indie platformer Shovel Knight will be released sometime in Spring, 2017. The Specter of Torment expansion will add in a brand new campaign that allows players to play as the new Specter Knight character. While the Specter Knight can’t jump as high as the standard Shovel Knight character, he can use his scythe weapon to launch dashing and diving attacks on foes as well as climb walls to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.

Much like Shovel Knight’s previous expansion, Plague of Shadows, the Specter of Torment expansion will be completely free to download. In addition, there’s third expansion in the works that will reportedly add yet another new character, the King Knight. Both Specter of Torment and the King Knight expansion will come with a new game mode. Specter of Torment will include the Body Swap mode which lets players swap a character’s gender, while the King Knight expansion will include a multiplayer PvP mode aptly titled Battle Mode.
