Yooka-Laylee Will Get A Physical Boxed Release

Collectors will be able to get something they can actually hold in their hands.

Indie developer Playtonic has announced that its upcoming adventure game Yooka-Laylee, a game which serves as an homage to classic platformers like Banjo-Kazooie, will be getting a physical release in addition to its standard digital edition. Playtonic confirmed the good news via an update on the official Playtonic website.

While details on what the physical version of Yooka-Laylee will contain have yet to be nailed down, Playtonic promises that it will be available at the same time as the digital version (early 2017). In addition, Kickstarter backers will have the opportunity to upgrade their pledge from a digital copy to a physical version of the game if they prefer:

“We’re delighted to be able to offer Yooka-Laylee in both digital and boxed flavours in time for the game’s launch in Q1 2017. As we speak, our business badgers are busily burrowing away on an initiative that will allow Kickstarter backers to upgrade their digital pledge to a physical version, if they choose to do so. We’re not ready to share the exact details just yet, but very soon you should be able to stick your head in the badger hole and look for yourself.”
