Nintendo's bad online service cripples FIFA 18 on the Switch

No friends, no fun.

The release of FIFA 18 on the Switch has been slightly marred by the console’s lackluster online service.

Due to a lack of an invite system, present in some first-party games like Mario Kart, players are unable to join friends for a match over the net.

There is no dashboard-based invite or party system through the friends list, so there’s no cross-app support for getting games started with your friends.

With third-party game developers having to manually create their own invite systems to mesh with Nintendo’s existing friend system, this seems like a nightmare scenario. Let’s hope it gets a better solution soon.
