For a successful party, all you need is one thing: an awesome scary game that you can play with your friends. So ditch all the expensive party favors and cheesy decorations, and try out these 5 fun-filled multiplayer horror games that are guaranteed to make your get-together unforgettable.
Dead By Daylight
There’s nothing that says true horror like being aggressively pursued by a homicidal maniac. In Dead By Daylight, you have the choice of playing as the pursued or as the pursuer, and after the recent addition of The Halloween Chapter DLC, let’s just say that you might wake up in a cold sweat after playing a few rounds of this game with your pals. The goal is to escape the killing ground without being hung out to dry by the cold-blooded killer. Depending on the skill of the players in relation to the killer , this could be relatively easy or all your friends might just end up dead.
Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead 2 is an awesome continuation to Left 4 Dead that features 4 new survivors, a slew of new weapons and uncommon common zombies, as well as 3 new special infected. Left 4 Dead 2 challenges you and your friends to work together to survive through a variety of different levels using your best zombie survival skills. It’s made by the same creators behind Counter Strike, Half-Life, Portal and Team Fortress, so if you enjoy those games, then we encourage you to equip your best melee weapon and get ready for some zombie slaying action!
Don’t Starve Together
Don’t Starve Together isn’t scary in the traditional sense but it definitely has chilling horror-like elements that will keep you and your friends on the edge of your seats. It plays exactly like Don’t Starve but now you’ll be tasked with surviving alongside your friends. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses which makes for some very entertaining and fun-filled gameplay. A word of caution: Never venture alone and beware of what lurks in the darkness of the foreboding woods and swamps of Don’t Starve Together.
Dying Light: The Following
Dying Light:The Following is an open world, first person shooter that allows you to parkour your way through a large world filled with flesh-eating zombies. It even features co op, so you and a friend can try your hands at survival as you craft lethal weapons, search for supplies, drive around in sweet dirt buggies, and take on plague-ridden enemies. Dying Light has received over 50 awards and nominations for it’s scary and fun-filled gameplay.
The Secret World
The Secret World is an MMORPG where every urban legend, conspiracy theory and tall-tale you’ve ever heard has come to life. This game will invite you to join the illuminati, witness the horror of Cthulu, and take on the likes of zombies, vampires and mummies all within the same universe. The game is also buy to play so no need to worry about your friends having to buy DLC or pay membership fees. The beauty of this game is that you and your friends can take on the horrors of this game together or can take your own separate paths and meet back up again later. Just make sure to check on them because who knows what terrifying entities they’ll stumble upon.
The Killing Floor 2
Fans of COD Zombies and Left 4 Dead, I present you with The Killing Floor 2. You and 6 friends can take on “zeds” which are science experiments gone awry. Despite their wacky appearance, these AI monsters get smarter with each increase in difficulty, making gameplay super challenging and dynamic. The first game within the series did exceptionally well, and the second installment is no different. Although in Early Access, The Killing Floor 2 already has a plethora of positive reviews with many players calling it addictive and fun as heck.
