ModDB Kicks Off 2016 Mod of the Year Awards

Celebrate the art of video game modding during this year’s Mod of the Year Awards.

In the past, we’ve made the connection between modding and indie games, and how they have a symbiotic relationship of sorts. After all, several incredible indie games all started off as humble mods of pre-existing games (including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as seen in the header image above).

If you're interested in modding, you may know the website ModDB. ModDB is arguably the most active website for video game modders. Here, we’ve discovered incredible user-created games and mods like GoldenEye: Source and Driving Survival. This year, you can help celebrate the art of video game modding by casting your vote in ModDB’s Mod of the Year Awards.

In regards to the awards, ModDB had this to say:

“Welcome to the 15th Annual Mod of the Year Awards, a celebration of the years finest mods chosen by you and us. For the next 4 weeks, it is up to you to vote for your favorite mods so that they may make the top 100 which will be announced on the 11th of December. Edain Mod took the crown last year as voted by you, the players and modders of this great community.

There was also a plethora of great challengers, including Rise of the Reds finishing runner-up and Mental Omega coming in 3rd. If you need a refresh of how last year’s awards went down head on over to the top 10 countdowns for both players and editors to see who stood out among the pack. There’s been some huge releases this year and we look forward to seeing who will be climbing to the top to be awarded our 2016 Mod of the Year.”  ModDB

If you’re interested in voting, be sure to head over to the link on ModDB and vote for your favorite mod. For example, if you loved GoldenEye: Source you can search for it in the search bar and navigate to the mod’s page to cast your vote!

So, which mods will you be voting for this year? Let us know in the comments below!
