Rime Locks Down an Official Release Date

The game will be available on PC and console this May, with a Nintendo Switch release in the near future.

Rime by Tequila Works has finally secured a solid release date for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Arriving on May 26th, players interested in exploring Rime can pick up the game’s digital or physical copy for $29.99 (£29.99 in the UK, €34.99 in Europe).

Originally announced back in 2013, Rime suffered a handful of setbacks during its development, so it’s exciting to know fans will finally be able to get their hands on the game in only two short months. As for Rime’s release on the Nintendo Switch, Tequila Works has promised to unveil when Switch owners can purchase Rime in the near future.

We feel Rime is a solid fit for the Nintendo Switch, as its art style is reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In fact, Rime is not the only game to boast this bright, colorful aesthetic. Other Nintendo Switch indies such as The Sacred Hero and Riverside, also seem to follow a similar design pattern.

If you’re unfamiliar with Rime, the game centers around a young boy stranded on an unusual island after a shipwreck. In order to unravel the island’s mysteries, players will have to solve various puzzles using light, perspective, sound, and even time. The game has been compared to Journey, Ico, and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Taking inspiration from so many phenomenal games, we can’t wait to play Rime on May 26th.

Additionally, we’re curious to see how the game plays on the Nintendo Switch, and if it will make use of the Switch’s unique functionality. Will you be buying Rime for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or are you set on picking the game up for the Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments below!
