New Assassin's Creed has difficulty options

Turn it up and down as you play.

Assassin's Creed returns to our screens soon in the most dramatic shake-up the series has seen in years, and one of the many new things we can expect in Assassin's Creed Origins is the option to change difficulty settings as we play.

"Some people play for the historic context, some people for the narrative, some for the gameplay, and what we felt was by going deeper into the gameplay challenge of the game we’re feeding one part of the audience, but not others so it was a natural step for us to think, ‘Well, let’s give difficulty settings,'" game director Ashraf Ismail told Assassin's Central (hat tip to Games Radar).

The idea will be that you start the game on normal and then you can increase or decrease the difficulty as you like. Ismail sees this as a good way for hardcore players to seek a greater challenge, but also a nice way for players who don't have time to bounce off the same boss fight over and over again to make quicker progress.

Assassin's Creed Origins is due out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 27.
