How to Save in Yooka-Laylee

Learn how to save your progress and your Pagies!

In Yooka-Laylee, knowing how to save your progress is vitally important. This is because there are so many collectibles you can find across various different worlds. It can be extremely frustrating to gather 100 Quills, 10 Pagies, and a Ghost Writer or two… only to learn you’ve lost them all once you boot up the game the next day.

To help, we’ve put together a quick guide on how to save your game in Yooka-Laylee.

How to Save in Yooka-Laylee

In Yooka-Laylee, your progress will autosave as indicated by the floppy disk character in the bottom right corner.

First and foremost, Yooka-Laylee will automatically save your progress as you move through the game. For example, when you collect a Pagie, exit or enter a Grand Tome, and so on.

To check to see if Yooka-Laylee is saving your progress, be sure to look at the bottom right corner of your screen. If your game is autosaving, you’ll spot a cute floppy disk character noting that your progress has been saved. Thanks, little buddy!

Unfortunately, if you’re extremely cautious like we are and enjoy manually saving your progress, there’s currently no manual save option in Yooka-Laylee. This can become troublesome if you aren’t sure whether or not the game auto-saved where you wanted it to.

Yooka-Laylee has no manual save option.

One tip when it comes to saving your progress in Yooka-Laylee is to complete the task you were on (collecting a particular Pagie), then heading back out of the Grand Tome into Hivory Towers. If your progress didn’t save after you collected that last Pagie, it should save by the time you spawn in Hivory Towers.

In the end, it’s important to remember that Yooka-Laylee will automatically save your progress. If you don’t trust the game’s autosave feature, or want to be doubly sure your collectibles will be waiting for you when you load up the game again, exit the Grand Tome you’re in back into Hivory Towers.

When in doubt, exit the Grand Tome you're in back to Hivory Towers to automatically save your progress in Yooka-Laylee.

By reading through this quick guide, you should now know how to save in Yooka-Laylee.
