Tekken 7 - How to Beat Akuma in Story Mode

Find out how you can take down Akuma in Tekken 7's Story Mode.

In Tekken 7, knowing how to beat Akuma in Story Mode can be challenging on the game’s higher difficulty settings. If you’re wondering when to expect the encounter with Akuma, he makes an appearance in a special chapter of Tekken 7’s Story Mode after you complete the main campaign as Devil Kazuya.

While there are many formidable foes in Tekken 7, Akuma is a newcomer to the game, which makes it harder to know the best methods for taking him down. In this guide, we’ll teach you how to beat Akuma in Tekken 7.

How to Beat Akuma in Tekken 7

When fighting Akuma in Tekken 7, be sure to keep your distance at all times.

In Tekken 7, one of the best ways to beat Akuma is by keeping your distance. There are several reasons for this, one of which being his skill at blocking your direct attacks before swinging back with some seriously punishing combos. Because of this, you’ll want to stay out of Akuma’s range at all times.

One attack that's useful for this strategy is the Air Laser combo Air Laser (Up+Forward, Left Punch, Right Punch). Use this whenever you notice Akuma pausing to charge his energy.

While keeping your distance is a great way to avoid damage, Akuma has the ability to shoot fireballs which boast a bit more range than his main combos. At the beginning of the match, take note of Akuma’s fireball throws, then sidestep away from them to avoid being hit.

Akuma's fireballs cost energy, so you'll want to wait until he's drained before launching your attack in Tekken 7.

Through the act of sidestepping Akuma’s fireballs, you can begin carefully moving in closer to his position. Akuma’s fireballs cost energy, so once you notice he’s drained of energy, you can attack with your Hell Lancer combo (Forward+Neutral, Down+Forward, Left Kick).

Try to avoid getting too close to Akuma while using your Hell Lancer combo, though, as he has the ability to teleport. Should you get too close, he’ll teleport behind you and begin unleashing his powerful combo attacks.

By continuing to maintain distance, you’ll find it easier to counter Akuma whenever he decides to teleport in front of you. For example, if you time things correctly you can counter using your Wind God Fist combo (Forward+Neutral, Down+Forward, Left Kick) once he reappears in front of you.

Akuma has the ability to teleport, so you'll need to time your follow-up combos with precision in Tekken 7.

If you find you’re able to dodge Akuma’s fireballs and land your combos with ease, you’ll soon cause Akuma to use his Rage Art. Be careful when dealing with Akuma at this point in Tekken 7, as the only way to counter Akuma’s Rage Art is to launch your own Rage Art (Down+Forward, Left Punch, Right Punch).

To beat Akuma, you'll need to continue repeating the steps and combos listed above, all while maintaining a good distance from Akuma.

Despite being a challenging opponent, especially at higher difficulty settings, Akuma can be taken down with a series of properly timed attacks. How did you beat Akuma in Tekken 7’s Story Mode? Let us know your tips and tricks in the comments below!
