PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Zombies Mode Gets an Official Trailer

See the upcoming official zombies mode in action.

When PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players started its own custom zombie scenarios in which a horde of unarmed players would attempt to overrun a small group of players equipped with firearms, developer Bluehole decided to go ahead and make the zombies scenario into an official game mode. Now, the mode has its own official trailer.

Unlike the zombies modes found in other games (like Call of Duty), the version found in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will feature zombies that are directly controlled by players, adding yet another element players will have to be on constant lookout for.

The trailer below doesn’t make it entirely clear whether a large portion of players in a match will start out as zombies (a typical match in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds can hold up to 100 players), or if players will simply respawn as zombies after being killed (similar to the Infection game type from competitive shooter games).

Nevertheless, the addition of player-controlled zombies should be a fun way to spice up an otherwise typical match. A release date for the zombies mode has yet to be announced, and Bluehole says it’s likely a ways off as the first priority is making sure PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is as stable as it can be. Still, fans should expect the zombies mode to arrive relatively soon, by the end of the year at least.
