PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Getting First-Person Servers in Monthly Update
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players will be pleased to hear that dedicated first-person servers are finally making their way into the game later this month. The announcement came via tweet from the Creative Director earlier today.
The announcement states that the dedicated first-person servers would arrive as part of the next monthly update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which should be on its way soon. A follow-up tweet explains that the first-person servers will start as a limited release. “We will bring 1st person only to EU/NA SOLO & DUO games first, and once we have polished the system, we will expand to other regions.” The goal is to make sure that the first-person servers are stable before preparing them for a wide release.

A dedicated first-person mode has been a highly requested feature among players who feel that the third-person perspective can give an unfair advantage and that first-person requires more skill. That’s not to say that you can’t still play in third-person, however. The Creative Director ensures that players “will not be forced to play on 1st person servers,” and that players will have a choice.
This news may not come as a surprise for some players, as news of a new FOV slider seemed to point to the inevitable addition of some sort of first-person feature in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Today’s announcement has confirmed those speculations.

The next monthly update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds should be arriving in the next couple weeks, and will include a limited rollout of the first-person only mode as well as various other bug fixes and adjustments. New weapons may be added as well, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any announcements in the coming days. A number of issues were also addressed in the latest Week 16 update in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. You can read more about the Week 16 update here.Back To Top
