Pokemon GO Fest Challenge Schedule

You can still participate in Pokémon GO fest outside of Chicago.

Pokémon GO Fest is this weekend, which means the launch of the first Legendary Pokémon is just around the corner. If you won’t be in the Chicago area for the event, don’t worry. You can still take part in the Pokémon GO Fest and earn some cool exclusive rewards for yourself in the process.

Pokémon GO Fest Details

Pokémon GO Fest takes place on Saturday, July 22nd from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. Trainers who attend the event in Chicago will have the opportunity to encounter and catch tons of different Pokémon, some of which have never been seen in the area before. Trainers must come together to cooperate with one another to complete scheduled event challenges throughout the day and earn in-game rewards, including an exclusive Pokémon GO Fest medal for your profile.

Pokémon GO Fest - Challenge Schedule

Trainers who can’t attend the Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago can still participate in the event by heading out to play Pokémon GO in your area on Saturday and partaking in each Pokémon GO Fest Challenge Phase.

Phase 1: Catch Challenge

The first phase of the Pokémon GO Fest is the Catch Challenge, which involves capturing as many Pokémon as possible during the challenge window. The number of Pokémon you catch during the 30-minute challenge window will be included in the collective total for the Catch Challenge, unlocking special in-game rewards for all players both inside and outside the event.

Each Catch Challenge lasts for thirty minutes, and there will be three Catch Challenge time windows during Pokémon GO Fest. The start times are as follows:

  • 11 a.m. CT
  • 1 p.m. CT
  • 3 p.m. CT

After all three Catch Challenges conclude, rewards will start to roll out for participants worldwide. Trainers will compete for Bronze, Silver, and Gold rewards, which unlock the following:

  • Bronze Reward - Increases all bonus durations by 24 hours.
  • Silver Reward - Increases all bonus durations by 48 hours.
  • Gold Reward - Mystery Challenge Unlocked

Phase 2: Mystery Challenge

Unfortunately, the Mystery Challenge is only available to players who attend the Pokémon GO Fest event in Chicago. If players around the world are able to unlock the Gold tier reward, then Trainers at the Pokémon GO Fest will get to participate in a Mystery Challenge at 6 p.m. CT.

As you can probably guess, the Mystery Challenge will be what all Pokémon GO fans have all been waiting for — the first ever Pokémon GO Legendary Raid Battle. Trainers at Grant Park will have to work as a team to take down the first Legendary Pokémon Boss.

Phase 3: Global Reward

If the Pokémon GO Fest attendees successfully defeat the Legendary Raid Boss, they’ll unlock the final phase of the event, which is the Global Reward. This technically takes place the next day, on Sunday, July 23rd

In Phase 3, players around the world will get to experience the same Legendary Pokémon that Trainers encountered in Grand Park. The newly revealed Legendary Pokémon will invade gyms worldwide for players to battle and capture on July 23rd. It’s unclear whether the Legendary will be available after Sunday, so you should probably schedule out some time to play Pokémon GO on Sunday if you want to ensure you capture the game’s first Legendary.

We’re looking forward to seeing what the first Legendary Pokémon will be in Pokémon GO. Let us know in the comments if you’re able to attend Pokémon GO Fest on Saturday!
