Destiny 2 - What Does 'At Capacity' Mean?

Here’s what it means when Destiny 2 says it’s “at capacity.”

Destiny 2 is a little over a week old, but already it has proven to be quite the hit amongst shooter/sci-fi fans, especially those who enjoyed the original Destiny.

However, if you have ever tried to log into Destiny 2 and been met with the poorly explained “at capacity” error, we’re here to tell you exactly what that means.

Get In Line, Buddy

To put it plainly, the “at capacity” error comes up whenever Destiny 2’s servers are crammed full with players (something which tends to happen during major milestones, like the release of the game’s first raid). Since the servers are full, getting the error means you have been placed in a queue of sorts which will let you enter the game once there’s space.

As in other massively multiplayer games, these queues operate on a first come, first served basis, so if you find yourself in one and you still really want to play Destiny 2 right then and there, your only option is to wait until you get to the front of the queue.

The silver lining to encountering the “at capacity” error is that, once you do manage to get in, you’re guaranteed to find other players to play with if you want to do a group activity like Crucible PvP, Public Events, the Nightfall Strike, or the Leviathan raid (now that it’s live).

Funnily enough, having other players around can also help if you’re a more solo-oriented player, since it means you can, for example, more easily grind Public Events for Scout Rifle drops, something which can help with the Mida Multi-Tool Exotic quest.

Stay tuned for more Destiny 2 coverage here at Indie Obscura in the coming months, especially once Xur starts making his weekly stops starting tomorrow and the Curse of Osiris DLC launches later this year.
