Boyfriend Dungeon is a Dungeon Crawler That Lets You Date Your Weapons

Boyfriend Dungeon brings a whole new meaning to 'sheathing your sword'.

Move over, Dream Daddy. There’s a new dating mashup coming to town in 2019: Boyfriend Dungeon. This dungeon crawler hybrid from Kitfox Games combines isometric hack-and-slash gameplay with the eye-candy elements of a dating simulator. Who are you dating? Your weapons, of course!

In Boyfriend Dungeon, you play as a small warrior who must fight their way through monster-filled dungeons in search of lost weapons. Upon “rescuing” a lost weapon, it will miraculously transform into an attractive single who’s ready to mingle. This is where the dating sim aspect comes in, as you’ll then be able to date these new weapon-people and get to know them a little better while utilizing their weapons.

Each eligible bachelor or bachelorette is associated with a specific type of weapon, such as a dagger, talwar, or épée. Using the right dialogue to play towards each romance option’s interests will allow you to level up their weapons, winning over both their hearts and their blades. This unconventional mashup of genres is oddly intriguing, to say the least.

The title is a bit misleading, as the characters aren’t limited to one gender, which is great. Also, based on the silhouettes in the trailer, one of the romance options appears to be a cat. Hey, you do you.

Kitfox Games, creators of Moon Hunters and The Shrouded Isle, are planning to unleash this playful mashup into the world sometime in 2019. Sign up for the Kitfox Games mailing list on their website or stay tuned to Kitfox Games’ Twitter feed for more Boyfriend Dungeon updates.
