Capcom Announces Mega Man 11 Is Coming In 2018

The first mainline Mega Man title in seven years.

During a special Mega Man 30th Anniversary press event which was held earlier today, Capcom made a number of new announcements about the classic Blue Bomber-starring series, the most prominent of which was the revelation that an eleventh mainline Mega Man game, which is aptly titled Mega Man 11, will be coming in 2018.

According to a press release from Capcom, Mega Man 11 will be helmed by Mega Man series veterans Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (serving as the game’s senior producer) and Koji Oda (serving as the game’s director). Judging from the release’s official description of Mega Man 11, it sounds like Capcom is aiming to appeal to both classic Mega Man fans and new players who may have missed out on the series’ older entries:

“The classic series takes a leap forward in visual presentation in Mega Man 11 with a 2.5D design direction introducing beautiful, completely hand-drawn characters and environments. A freshly redesigned Mega Man takes on Dr. Wily’s berserk machines, defeating Robot Master bosses and taking their weapons, in an ever-evolving fight for justice with new and unique enemy designs.”

The last numbered Mega Man entry, Mega Man 10, was released way back in 2010 to give you an idea of just how long fans have been waiting for a new proper Mega Man title. More details on Mega Man 11 will be shared during the summer, 2018 season, but in the meantime Capcom was able to confirm that the game is set to be released for a myriad of different platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
