Destiny 2's world first Prestige Raid champs used exploit, still the official winners

Glitchin' ain't cheatin' (sometimes).

Destiny 2’s Prestige Raid finally went live last week after Bungie delayed the release in attempts to fix an exploit – only for the first team to complete it to use a different one.

To find out how the Destiny 2 Prestige Raid changes make it harder, check out these comparisons.

Clan Redeem, whom Bungie proclaimed as the world’s first fireteam to complete the extremely difficult version of the Leviathan Raid, used the ‘Coil Glitch’ in order to refill their Power Ammo when holding a particular exotic rocket launcher.

The exploit Bungie was attempting to remove from the game before the Prestige Raid arrived prevented enemies from spawning when the fireteam reached the throne room of the final boss.

It could not be fixed in time, so the developers devised a way to tell if players had used it when completing the super-hard raid.

"It's important to us that the team who earns World First status doesn't have their legacy tarnished by doubt, skepticism, or uncertainty," Bungie said in a community blog.

But after being made aware of Clan Redeem’s sneaky Power Weapon reloading tricks it seems Bungie weren’t too bothered about those sort of shenanigans.

"We have seen the reports that an ammo exploit was used today in the Prestige Raid," said Bungie’s Destiny community manager Cozmo. "This was not the specific exploit we were checking for and we don't currently have the ability to detect it.

"Tomorrow we will release the top three finishers in the TWAB [This Week At Bungie blog]. You can make your own decision as to who should be celebrated."
