Sea of Thieves Closed Beta Gets Two-Day Extension

Rare has rolled out a fix to address connection issues in the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta.

Due to its rocky launch, the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta has been extended by two days to make up for the time lost. Originally ending on Sunday, the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta test will now end on Wednesday, January 31 at midnight Pacific Time.

Many players experienced connectivity issues at the start of the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta phase, which included a “too early” message that denied entry for players who should have otherwise had access. Rare apologized for the inconvenience after rolling out a potential fix to address the issue. Rare also wants to make it clear that players may have to wait upwards of 24 hours after pre-ordering to gain access to the Closed Beta.

According to an update from Rare, players who pre-order Sea of Thieves from now until the end of the Closed Beta will be granted access immediately through the Xbox Insider Hub App. The Sea of Thieves Closed Beta was initially available to those who either joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Program before December 1, 2017 or who pre-ordered the game digitally.

Hopefully the two-day extension will be enough to make up for the missed playtime many have experienced. Sea of Thieves will launch on March 20 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
