Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion sets sail in July

Explore the Land of Ooo at your leisure.

Free-roaming Adventure Time game Pirates of the Enchiridion will launch on July 17, according to publisher Bandai Namco. The sea-faring sandbox game has been developed by British developer Climax Studios. It's the first openworld game based on the cult cartoon.

In the game, you'll control a party made up of Jake, Finn, Marceline and BMO as you explore the Land of Ooo, which has been mysteriously submerged underwater after the Ice Kingdom begins to melt. It's up to you to find out what's caused this bizarre situation. You'll do all the usual RPG things along the way - or to put it in copy-and-paste press release terms: "upgrade your heroes, use items, spells, potions and unique ultimate hero abilities to battle bad guys in fast-paced tactical combat."

Adventure Time hasn't exactly been well served by gaming so far, but this one looks like it will actually recapture the unique tone of the show and be a good game at the same time. We'll find out on July 17 when it launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
