Orange Shirt Kid is Fortnite's new community star

All hail the funky flavor of Orange Justice.

Throughout April, Epic ran a social media contest to find a new dance emote for Fortnite. All fans had to do was film themselves throwing some sick shapes on the dancefloor and upload them with the #BoogieDown tag in order to be considered.

Well, now April is just so much comet dust in the wind, and a winner was chosen: Populotus. Here's his winning entry.

While that was Epic's choice, it turns out the Fornite community had other ideas. They rallied behind a young fan who goes by the name Orange Shirt Kid, whose tweeted entry quickly went viral.

Following the announcement of Populotus' win, the hashtag #JusticeForOrangeShirtKid began trending and Epic - being good sports who know how to please a crowd - have given the citrus-hued hero a moment in the spotlight, with a new dance emote called Orange Justice. In an especially nice touch, the emote is available to all players regardless of whether or not you own the Season 4 Battle Pass. Just hit tier 26 and your avatar will also be able to move like Orange Shirt Kid. Needless to say, the community reaction has been...energetic.

Hail to you, Orange Shirt Kid. You are the hero we both need and deserve.
