How to get Resonate Stem consumables in Destiny 2 Warmind

Learn how to collect Resonate Stems in Destiny 2 Warmind and earn exotic rewards.

Unsurprisingly, new DLC for Destiny 2 means a new resource to farm. Why? Because it’s there of course. Guardians exploring the Warmind expansion will find themselves hunting down a consumable called Resonate Stem. Fortunately this one has a pretty obvious use so we’ve got good reason to secure them. Here’s how to get Resonate Stem consumables in Destiny 2’s Warmind DLC.

How to get Resonate Stem

You won’t find Resonate Stem until you’ve polished off the main story for Warmind and beated a couple of world quests from the Data Recovery line that will earn you the IKELOS_HC_V.1.0.1 legendary hand cannon. After that you’ll be given a quest step titled Nascent Dawn 1/5. In this quest you’ll need to perform three patrols on Mars before looting a lost sector to earn yourself the Resonate Stems. Complete these tasks and you’ll receive a message at the bottom of your screen. Appearing under the title “Project: CB.NAV,” the message reads: “You’ve acquired enough Resonate Stems to make an Override Frequency. Open your inventory to generate one.”

As the message suggests, consuming four of these Resonate Stems will create an Override Frequency which can then be used to access one of the 40 Sleeper Nodes dotted around Mars. These Sleeper Nodes are the key to earning yourself the exotic Sleeper Simulant linear fusion rifle. You’ll need plenty more Resonate Stems for that however, and the best way to get them is to take part in a variety of activities across Mars. You can do any of the following to earn Resonate Stems:

  • Vanguard Patrols
  • Lost Sectors
  • High-Value Targets
  • Public Events
  • Complete Challenges

You’ll typically earn one Resonate Stem from each of these activities you complete, so expect it to take some time before you’re able to get all 40 Override Frequencies for the Sleeper Nodes (though it’s worth noting that you’ll only need 15 to earn the Sleeper Simulant exotic). To unlock the full lot you’d need a whopping 160 Resonate Stems, so we don’t recommend grinding for them alone. Instead you’re best off spending your time on other activities and letting your total of Stems build up as you earn them on the side.

While you’re here, why not take a look at one of our other Destiny 2 guides? Here’s how to trigger the Heroic Warsat Down public event in Destiny 2 Warmind — completing that should net you a Resonate Stem each time too!
