Gearbox says Borderlands 3 won't be coming to E3 2018

Borderlands 3 won't be at E3 2018 according to Gearbox's Randy Pitchford.

Gearbox Software recently announced that they will not be bringing Borderlands 3, or any other Borderlands title, to E3 2018. The statement comes from co-founder, CEO, and “Magic Man” Randy Pitchford, who detailed how Borderlands 3 won’t be at E3 this year via a series of magical tweets.

“[The performer] once said (paraphrased), ‘When I make something vanish (which is a magic trick, and fake), people will swear that it is real. But when I eat a light bulb (which is not magic, and is real) people will swear that it is fake – a trick,” Pitchford explained on Twitter.

His comparison on what is real and what isn’t comes in direct response to rumors which began circling the internet last week suggesting that Borderlands 3 will be on full display at this year’s E3. Pitchford also pointed out that he doesn’t think his denial will quiet the rumors, as people have the tendency to cling to what they want to believe.

“For example, I could write it out now precisely and specifically that ‘Borderlands 3’ will not be at E3 and many of you will choose not to believe it. Many of you will find a way to interpret the intent to suit what you want to believe regardless of what is true.” After clearing things up, Pitchford thanked Borderlands fans and noted that “Gearbox is working harder than we ever have worked in order to create new and exciting things.”

Whether or not you choose to believe Pitchford, it’s safe to say Borderlands 3 probably won’t be at E3 2018. While the exclusion of Borderlands 3 at E3 2018 is a sad thing to hear for many fans, it doesn’t mean that Borderlands 3 will never be made. Instead, it simply means Gearbox will have other games on display this year.

All in all, we’re eager to see what those new Gearbox games will be as the kick-off date for E3 in June gets closer. Let us know in the comments what you think of Pitchford’s response to the Borderlands 3 rumors, and if you’re still holding out hope for Borderlands 3 at E3 2018.
