Pokémon Quest available now on Nintendo Switch

The game is free-to-play with DLC packs available for purchase.

Along with yesterday’s reveal of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee was the promise of a new “core Pokémon RPG” in 2019 and the unveiling of Pokémon Quest. Pokémon Quest is a free-to-play side game that’s available for download right now on Nintendo Switch, and will release on Android and iOS sometime late June.

Pokémon Quest is quite different in style than other Pokémon titles. Set within the world of Tumblecube Island, which feels fairly reminiscent of Minecraft, players are given the ability to capture and train box-shaped Pokémon. Game Freak has named these cute box Pokémon “Pokéxel” characters, which are comprised primarily of first generation Pokémon.

In the game, you can expand your roster by customizing your base and cooking food in hopes of attracting new Pokémon. While out exploring Tumblecube Island, players will be able to select three Pokémon for battle. Pokémon Quest doesn’t include the traditional turn-based combat, and instead requires players to tap their Pokémon's attack meters after they’ve filled up.

Pokémon Quest is free-to-play, though it does include paid DLC options. The DLC options for Pokémon Quest include the following package options…
