DC Universe Online to shut PS3 servers in January

Accounts can be transferred to PS4.

Daybreak games have confirmed that the PS3 servers for DC Universe Online will officially shut on January 31, 2018.

“In order to deliver the highest quality experience to our players, we will focus our resources on further optimizing the game for PlayStation 4,” a blog post on the DC Universe website reads. “While there is still time to continue exploring DCUO on the PS3, we want to give you advanced notice so you can prepare for these future changes.”

Fortunately, transferring your characters and information from PS3 to PS4 is as simple as a logging in on the modern console.

“All of your player information, subscriptions, DLC purchases, and game information transfer automatically to the PlayStation 4 when you log in with the same PSN account.”

DC Universe Online launched back in 2011 under Sony Online Entertainment (now Daybreak) as a highly anticipated title. The game has since been brought to both PS4 and Xbox One. PS3 fans of the DC MMO will need to update to Sony’s current generation if they want to continue enjoying their favourite world.
