PlayStation Rewards gives Platinum Hunters small price discounts

Sony's PlayStation Rewards program is set to offer US gamers small discounts on the PlayStation Store for amassing large numbers of trophies.

The PlayStation Rewards program has been around for a while, but this new element will see gamers able to convert their trophies into points that can be redeemed for a $10 voucher.

Once you've hooked your account up to the PlayStation Rewards system, you will be able to redeem 100 silver trophies earned for 100 points, 25 gold trophies for 250 points, and 10 platinums for 1000 points. Every 1000 points is worth a $10 voucher.

It's hardly a lifelong ticket to free games, then, but if you play a lot and enjoy chasing trophies, you might find yourself saving the odd buck now and again.
