5 Games World of Tanks Players Might Love

Take a break from Arty and try one of these games.

Battlefield 1

I almost left Battlefield 1 off this list, but there are enough reasons to think it might be of interest to World of Tanks players, so I’ve included it and will let you make up your own minds. Further research on your part may be required.

That main reason that I believe World of Tanks players would enjoy Battlefield 1 is for the single-player campaign that plays out in the form of War Stories. There are six including the prologue, and the first 10 minutes is one of the most powerful and shocking experiences I’ve had in a video game. While I would never be so foolish as to assume that it gives me anything close to an idea of what real combat is like, it made me feel helpless in regards to my character’s fate. I’ll always remember it for that, which makes sense considering how this is one of the main goals of storytelling.

It’s probably fair to classify the rest of the War Stories from good to excellent, but like anything else, each player will have their favorites and least favorites. Overall, you get to immerse yourself in bite-sized stories, all set in and around World War I. It doesn’t hurt that DICE makes graphically stunning games, either. Although, be sure to check the system requirements against your PC’s specs before you buy, unless you’re on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

As you probably know, Battlefield 1 is a first-person shooter, and during the War Stories, you’ll get an opportunity to operate a tank, fly a plane, and do plenty of shooting from the first-person perspective. You’ll get these same experiences online, but online is obviously much faster, much more chaotic, and includes a certain level of randomness if you decide to play the objective. Where World of Tanks is about knowing the map, knowing what your tank is capable of, and understanding your opponent’s weaknesses, Battlefield 1 is a bit more about hoping a random grenade doesn’t drop on your head while you’re prone on a flag. Don’t get us wrong, it’s a great game, but the multiplayer component may not appeal to all World of Tanks players.

The price of Battlefield 1 will vary based on where you live and where you wish to buy it, so make sure that the price fits your expectations of the game. If your plan is to simply enjoy War Stories, let it drop in a sale before spending the money. If you’re thinking you might enjoy a steady diet of multiplayer, it’s probably worth a purchase, even at full price.
