With Halo's tight first-person shooter mechanics, the Xbox became cemented as a must-have piece of hardware. Once players got their hands on Halo and proceeded to experience the game's story, however, they slowly began to realize it was more than a solid FPS shooter.

After crash landing on an alien ring, players exit their cramped lifeboat and walk out into a foreign landscape of rolling hills and river-etched canyons.
