From the fields of Cyrodiil to the edges of the Milky Way, these soundtracks will scare your pants off, set your pulse racing, and even help you relax.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Last but certainly not the least, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time soundtrack is often considered to be one of the best game soundtracks of all time. No matter your age, the Zelda games have always offered enchanting songs. However, it was Ocarina of Time where players first encountered the magical soundtracks the Zelda franchise became famous for.

Each area in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has its own distinct, recognizable theme. Despite the decades that have passed, the Gerudo Valley tune can still be easily differentiated from the Kakariko Village theme.

Ocarina of Time's soundtrack managed to capture the energy of the game's varied locations with ease. For example, Hyrule's marketplace featured music that was all hustle and bustle, with characters running around and shop owners selling their wares. Continue through the game and you'll reach the Shadow Temple, with eerie chants and moans that give induced a heightened emotional response.

As a child, the darkness of the Shadow Temple and the wailing of the music was one of the most horrifying moments to experience. Despite the Nintendo 64’s limited hardware capabilities, the songs in Ocarina of Time continue to evoke deep, nostalgic reverence. To this day, millions of players can still sing the Song of Time, or even retell how it felt to ride Epona for the first time across the fields of Hyrule.

As gamers, we’re extremely lucky that we can be entertained by a medium that offers so much. From visual, interactive, and thought-provoking elements, games try their hardest to make us feel something, and their ultimate weapon is their music.
