5 Reasons You Should Watch Hacksaw Ridge

The last reason may not be what you expected.

It’s More of a Love Story

When you go into a movie about World War II, one of the last things you expect to get from it is a love story. While there is a brief tale of romance woven throughout Hacksaw Ridge, the film can be seen as a love story in a different sense. Mel Gibson, who directed Hacksaw Ridge, has described Doss’ exemplary heroism as “the greatest act of love there is.”

Doss represents love in many senses of the term: love for God, love for his fellow man, love for his country, and love for doing what’s right. Doss’ ability to exhibit love in so many ways is what earned him the Medal of Honor, and it’s worth seeing Hacksaw Ridge to get a clearer sense of how Doss accomplished what he did.

While Hacksaw Ridge has its flaws, it still deserves praise for its portrayal of one of America’s true heroes. If you’ve seen Hacksaw Ridge, let us know if you would recommend this film to others and what you thought of the film in the comments below.
