If you’ve happened to stop by one of our World of Tanks livestreams on Twitch over the past month or so, you’ve probably noticed that we tend to play a lot of Tier 5 tanks. This mostly has to do with my infatuation with the Russian KV-1, which has become one of my favorites as of late.
However, there comes a time in every tankers life when you’ve got to move beyond the comfort of the mid-tiers in World of Tanks and continue onto the higher tiers. At this point, my colleague and platoonmate Rumpo has settled into his preferred Tier 6 tank, and it’s about time I find a solid Tier 6 of my own so we can continue to platoon together at the same tier. The problem is, I can’t seem to decide which Tier 6 tank I should go for next.
Now, it’s not like I haven’t tried Tier 6 at all. I actually own a couple Tier 6 tanks already, including the Fury, the Dicker Max, and the KV-2. The latter was one that I had heard great things about, which is why I unlocked it. However, after using it for a while, I’m not sure I want to commit to it just yet.
Don’t get me wrong, the KV-2 is definitely a good tank. It starts out with a powerful gun that can delete enemies rather quickly if you know what you’re doing. But, therein lies the problem.
Since I’m still relatively inexperienced when it comes to World of Tanks, I seem to have less fun in the KV-2 than someone who is already accustomed to its unbearably slow reload, zoom, and traverse speed. Yes, there are other guns to mount on it, etc. But, for the sake of changing things up a bit, I’d like to find another Tier 6 tank that’s as enjoyable as my trusty KV-1. This is where you come in.
After having my gameplay analyzed by our dedicated Twitch viewers, it became clear that Heavy tanks suit my play style the best. There a lot of options to choose from, and I am willing to take recommendations to help me narrow down which Tier 6 Heavy tank I should attempt to unlock next.
Since my Russian bias is strong, I am currently working on unlocking the KV-85, based on suggestions from our Tank War Room Twitch chat. However, this doesn’t mean other tank lines are out of the question. I’ve been meaning to start a new nation on the tech tree anyway, so I might as well choose a tank line that has an amazing Tier 6 tank waiting for me.
I’m essentially looking for a Tier 6 Heavy tank that has good armor, a powerful gun, a relatively high rate of fire, and decent traverse speed. That’s probably asking for a lot, but the closer a Tier 6 tank can get to those standards, the better. I suppose it doesn't have to be a Heavy tank, but that's just my preferred tank type. If you have another great Tier 6 tank in mind that is not a Heavy, I'm still open to those suggestions as well, so don't let my love of Heavy tanks stop you if there's a tank you think I'd like.
