AMX ELC bis
Or the ELC AMX, whatever you prefer to call it. This Tier 5 French tank is a close contender with the M24 Chaffee of the American line but plays differently. Unlike other Light tanks, the AMX ELC does not have a rotating turret, making it difficult at circling heavier enemies.
Making up for this unusual turret setback, the ELC AMX’s main gun can be upgraded to the 90 mm D. 915, boasting an astounding 170mm of penetration with 240 alpha on standard rounds. However, be warned, because the 90 mm suffers from poor aim time, coming in at almost 3 seconds. As such, the heavy-hitting 90 mm should be used in hit-and-run tactics.
Don’t let this dissuade you, though, as the AMX ELC has amazing mobility and power-to-weight ratio as well as great camouflage values, cementing it as an excellent scout and support vehicle. Just don’t try and use this tank without help from allies, as the AMX’s armor is not up to scratch, nor is its health pool going to help you. If you are caught out, use chaotic movements to keep your enemy’s guns off of you as you reconnect with your allies.
Overall, Light tanks are a dangerous venture for newer players, but there are noobs out there (we were all there once!) who want to test out the various playstyles of the tank types. The main thing to remember with Light tanks is their ability to scout and support allies, as well as their incredible knack of getting under the skin of heavier tanks with poor turret traverse speeds.
