Tank Gawd It's Friday - Your Slump-Buster Tank?

Tell us which tank lift your spirits in World of Tanks.

Welcome back to another Tank Gawd It’s Friday, the series where we pose a question about World of Tanks to our community every Friday before kicking off the weekend. We’ll start the conversation by answering the question ourselves, but what we really look forward to is hearing what you have to say in the comment section below.

This week, we’ll be looking through your responses and choosing one (or more) of our favorites, giving the winners an M4 Improved bundle in World of Tanks. Besides the tank itself, winning will also mean you get the garage slot to put it in, some Gold, Premium time, and a few boosters to finish it all off. Just keep a few things in mind.

Note: The contest is open to North America PC players only, and your response must be on the article itself, not Facebook or Twitter.

Question: If you’re having a bad day in World of Tanks, what’s your go-to tank to turn things around?

Sam Chandler:

If I’m in a bit of a rut, struggling to have fun and just not enjoying myself, a couple of tanks I like to jump back into to get the energy back into the game is the Pz.Kpfw. III/IV or the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf H.

These mid-tier tanks are two I find to be rather enjoyable to use. They each feel - at least to me - like a nice middle ground between a Light tank and a Heavy tank. They offer the speed of a light tank, but with significantly more armor.

I thoroughly enjoy sitting and side-scraping against lower tiered enemies. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing them firing round after round into your side and seeing the shells bounce away as you block large amounts of damage.

Even the accuracy isn’t too bad, being able to hit a target across a field without too much issue. If I’m struggling to progress down a line, and just need to relax and have fun, mid-tier German tanks are where I like to spend my time.

Bill Lavoy:

The M18 Hellcat is definitely my slump-buster in World of Tanks. Big surprise there, since I’m the American TD guy who spends most of his time at Tier 5 and Tier 6.

The reason I’m choosing the M18 Hellcat is because it forces me to play more conservatively. I also use the T67 a lot, and that tank has great speed and mobility, meaning I tend to go on little adventures. I overestimate my ability to recover from mistakes in the T67, and that often ends horribly when my brain hasn’t joined me for my current play session.

When I’m in the M18 Hellcat, the mobility is reduced from the T67, which makes me far more conscious that I can’t overextend. I have to be smart about where I go on the map, making sure that I stay at range and have an exit plan if things go badly. Reversing in the M18 Hellcat is never a part of my exit strategy.

The M18 Hellcat lso allows me to be competitive when I’m bottom tier. I’m able to take on any of the tanks at Tier 6 (mostly), and even if I have to load some premium rounds, I’m able to damage most tanks at Tier 7 and Tier 8. Let’s also not forget when I get top tier in the Hellcat. Keep those poor Tier 4’s in your thoughts when that happens.

Mostly, however, the M18 Hellcat just forces me to use my brain, and 99 percent of the time, it’s not using my head that leads to a bad day of World of Tanks.

Larryn Bell:

If you've watched our livestreams on Twitch lately, you probably won't be surprised to hear that my go to tank when I'm in a rut is usually the KV-1. Usually, if I'm not doing well in World of Tanks, it's because I got myself killed quickly in one too many matches, which often happens when I try out different tank types that I'm not used to.

Since the KV-1 has great armor, I can usually bounce shots if I angle the tank properly. This also helps me practice my side-scraping skills, which really helps when playing most Heavy tanks. I also use the 85mm on my KV-1 to ensure I have that extra bit of firepower, even if it means the reaload time is a bit higher. The KV-1 usually turns my day around in World of Tanks when I start to feel defeated.

Now we want to hear from you. Tell us which tank is your go to for lifting your mood on a bad day in World of Tanks by leaving a comment at the bottom of this article. You just might win an M4 Improved!
