Finding all the Butterfly Booster locations in Yooka-Laylee is incredibly important as each one you find will increase your health. There are six Butterfly Boosters to be found across each of the main areas, but they aren’t easy to reach and a few of them require you to unlock more skills.
Hivory Tower – Hub
This Butterfly Booster can be found in the “Tutorial” area of the game right after Shipwreck Creek. From the two-way ramp, jump toward the pipe sticking out of the rocks and try to land on the outcropping. If you make the jump, continue up through the gap in the rocks, turn right, and you’ll see the Butterfly Booster floating on a rock near the fence. You may need to return to this once you have the Flappy Flight skill.
Tribalstack Tropics – World 1
Another Butterfly Booster that you can find in Yooka-Laylee is located in the expanded version of Tribalstack Tropics. From the starting location, head toward the back-left of the area and roll up the ramp leading to the Monument Mountain. At the top of the ramp, turn right and head around the back where you’ll see a maze on the wall. You will need to work your way through the maze to collect the Butterfly Booster.
Glitterglaze Glacier – World 2
The Butterfly Booster in Glittercave Glacier is located in the expanded version of the Grand Tome. Head into the newly unlocked Icymetric Castle floating above the water and progress through the area until you meet Burnie, then go inside Burnie and defeat the boss. After the boss is defeated, head back to the first room in Icymetric Castle and use Glide while standing on the vent in the corner to be lifted up to the moving platforms. Jump along the platforms to reach the Butterfly Booster.
Moodymaze Marsh – World 3
Another Butterfly Booster in Yooka-Laylee can be found after expanding the Moodymaze Marsh Grand Tome. Follow the new course along the fresh set of floating logs and approach the building with the Ghost Writer and My Blowy on top of it. The building will be surrounded by a moat of water and in the water will be the Butterfly Booster. Swim below the surface and look for a block of ice, you will need to use Bubble Walk and Sonic ‘Splosion to break the ice, freeing your Butterfly Booster.
Capital Cashino – World 4
The Butterfly Booster in Capital Cashino can be found directly above the center water feature. You will need to use either Flappy Flight or find the Mollycool and give it to Dr Puzz to turn into a helicopter in order to reach the Butterfly Booster.
Galleon Galaxy – World 5
The final Butterfly Booster you can find in Yooka-Laylee is located in the expanded version of Galleon Galaxy. From the starting location, head to the left toward the large pink moon and approach the smaller planet in front of it. The smaller planet has two doors, an upstairs and downstairs – head through the door on the top. Use the tube inside and finish the maze it takes you to in order to collect the Butterfly Booster.
Now that you’ve found all the Butterfly Boosters, you will be well prepared to take on the final boss, Capital B. If you can’t manage to reach all the Butterfly Boosters as soon as you start a level, simply come back later with more skills!
