PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - Use The ReShade Mod To Get An Edge

Crisper visuals can help you spot enemies more easily.

There’s really no substitute for improving your Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds skills other than getting into the thick of it and actually playing. However, if you want to give yourself more of a sporting chance, downloading and installing the ReShade mod is a good course of action to take.

What Does ReShade Do?

ReShade is a third-party mod which, when installed, drastically sharpens the in-game visuals for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds while also making them brighter and eliminating motion blur. As its name implies, ReShade also allows users to adjust various color shades, allowing them to create a custom-tailored visual HUD which can help them better spot distant landmarks and enemies. Best of all, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds’ creative director recently announced that using ReShade isn’t against the rules and won’t get you banned.

How To Get ReShade

First, you should make sure that you can reliably start up and run Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on its own, as installing ReShade can potentially cause problems (a common occurrence when installing third-party mods). When you’re good and ready, download ReShade from its official website and install it.

During the install process, you’ll be asked to locate your Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds game folder. This can be found in the Steam-SteamApps sub-folder of the Program Files folder in your C: drive. When asked if you want to download a collection of standard effects, click yes.

Next, you’ll want to click “Uncheck All” on the shader list, making sure that both Adaptive Sharpen and Technicolor 2 are unchecked. Then, finish up the install process and launch Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. Once you’re in the game, you can open the ReShade menu by pressing Shift + F2. You’ll be taken through a short tutorial, after which you should make sure the following two settings are adjusted:

●     Adaptive Sharpen is collapsed.

●     The Strength subcategory for Technicolor 2 is changed to 0.500.

Finally, navigate back to the Settings tab and change Usage Mode to Performance. Click the Reload button and then exit the ReShade menu. Note that you won’t be able to manually adjust any shader settings unless you switch Performance back to Usage Mode.

Now you’re all set to dominate your enemies using the enhanced performance of ReShade. For more Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds guide content, be sure to check out our guide on how to increase your odds of surviving.
