7 Reasons PS4 Kicks Xbox One's Ass

It’s clear which console is superior these days.

The DualShock 4 is the Top Controller

The PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller is more innovative and distinct than its rival on Xbox One. The most distinctive feature of the PS4 controller is its touchpad, a nifty feature that taps into the mobile intuitions of gamers by allowing touch-sensitive gaming. The touchpad also acts as a cursor tool for navigating menus like you would on any other touch screen device.

In games like Teraway Unfolded, touchpad functions are seamlessly integrated into the control scheme to give players a truly unique gaming experience, reminiscent of Teraway’s Vita origins. Other games like Infamous: Second Son use the touchpad to simulate a finger scanner. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag uses the touchpad as a means for accessing the in-game map, which can be manipulated with a series of finger swipes and pinches. Despite these few examples, it would be nice to see the touchpad used more often. It’s easy to forget it’s even there, but there’s so many possibilities for using a feature like this beyond the typical gimmicks.

The DualShock 4 controller also features a mono speaker and snazzy light bar that are often customized to react to certain game features and can be just as interactive as the touchpad at times. It’s got a better ergonomic design than the Xbox One Elite controller and is a huge improvement over its previous version. If controller design matters to you when choosing a game console, then the PS4 is the way to go.
