The Five Greatest Video Game Easter Eggs

Proof that video game developers can be very clever when they want to be.

Batman: Arkham Asylum – The Arkham City Tease

Rocksteady’s action-adventure game, Batman: Arkham Asylum, managed to single-handedly redeem the Dark Knight’s reputation as a compelling video game character in the wake of several poorly licensed titles. However, a well-hidden Easter Egg in the game’s environment revealed that Rocksteady had big plans for the Arkham franchise, even before the first game was officially released.

If a player ventured into a certain part of Warden Quincy Sharp’s office and set Explosive Gel charges on a wall, one which didn’t appear to be destroyable even when using Batman’s detective vision, they’d discover a hidden room once the charges had finished detonating.

In the secret room, plans could be found for something called “Arkham City,” and as fans of the franchise no doubt remember, Batman: Arkham City wound up being the name of the second game in the series.
