The Five Greatest Video Game Easter Eggs

Proof that video game developers can be very clever when they want to be.

Borderlands 2 – The Minecraft Caves

Back when Minecraft was still all the rage, it seemed as if no AAA game could come out without referencing Mojang’s sleeper-hit creation title in some way, and Borderlands 2 was no different. While in the sequel’s Caustic Caverns area, players could stumble across a passageway that was blocked by some familiar-looking dirt cubes.

If the player destroyed the dirt cubes with a melee attack, they’d find an entirely separate cave filled with Minecraft’s iconic Creeper enemies. Even better, destroying all the Creepers would allow the player to find and equip a unique Minecraft helmet accessory, complete with the chunky, low-res pixel-based graphics!
