Destiny 2 - Warlock Dawnblade Subclass Build

Everything you need to know about the Warlock’s new solar subclass, Dawnblade.

This guide will show you everything we know about the Dawnblade subclass, the new Solar subclass for Warlocks in Destiny 2. With the Destiny 2 reveal occurring recently, Guardians everywhere are scrambling to get their hands on any information possible, and there’s a lot of information floating around out there.

An article over at PCGamesN has revealed an insight into three subclasses in Destiny 2, but we’re taking a look at the Warlock’s Dawnblade. Be sure to check out our other guide on the Hunter’s Gunslinger subclass and the Titan’s Striker subclass.

These are all subject to change as Destiny 2 is still in production, but hopefully we can get our hands on the Warlock Dawnblade in the Destiny 2 Beta.

Warlock Dawnblade Subclass

The Warlock’s Dawnblade subclass is extremely similar to the Titan’s Sunbreaker subclass from Destiny 1 in that is has a throwable weapon and deals Solar damage.

Dawnblade Super – Daybreak

Weave Solar Light into blade and smite your foes from the skies.

Grenades

  • Solar Grenade - a grenade that creates a flare of Solar Light which continually damages enemies trapped inside
  • Firebolt Grenade - a grenade that unleashes bolts of Solar Light at nearby enemies
  • Fusion Grenade - an explosive grenade that causes bonus damage when attached to its target

Class Ability – Rift

  • Healing Rift - conjure a well of Light that continually heals those inside it
  • Empowering Rift - conjure a well of Light that increases the attack power of those inside it

Jump – Glide

  • Balanced Glide - Glide jump ability provides bonuses to both speed and control
  • Focused Burst - Glide jump ability provides an initial burst of speed
  • Controlled Glide - Glide jump ability provides better directional control when in the air

Abilities/Perks

The Dawnblade subclass for the Warlock is all about damage
The Dawnblade subclass for the Warlock is all about fighting in mid-air and increasing the damage and chaos you can cause with Daybreak.

Perks and abilities in Destiny 2 are grouped into two different sections, both consisting of four perks. Of these four perks, one has a direct affect on the Melee ability. As it stands, players cannot select some perks from one group and the remainder from the other.

While this might sound limiting, the groups are setup in such a way that it removes the need to try and stick with a "meta'. In Destiny 1, perks were often overlooked in favor of others, now, these groups are designed to work together. Instead of one "meta" choice of perks, Bungie has given us two.

Attunement of Sky

  • Swift Strike - Strike an enemy with this melee ability to burn your target and temporarily increase your movement and reload speed.
  • Winged Sune - Engage your enemies mid-flight. Fire weapons and throw grenades while gliding.
  • Heat Rises - Airborne kills recharge your Grenade and Melee energy. Casting Daybreak instantly refills all your ability energy.
  • Icarus Dash - Activate while midair to dodge.

Attunement of Flame

  • Igniting Touch - Strike an enemy with this melee ability to burn them and cause them to explode.
  • Fated for the Flame - Daybreak projectiles seek targets as they travel and, upon impact, launch a streak of deadly flames.
  • Everlasting Fire - Killing an enemy with Daybreak extends its duration.
  • Phoenix Dive - Activate while midair to quickly descend and restore your health. While Daybreak is active, Descend causes explosive damage.

The Icarus Dash ability is similar to the ability attached to the Titan chest piece, the Twilight Garrison. While the Warlock might have borrowed from the Titan, the Striker Titan still retains its Shoulder Charge.

As you can see, while there are a few similarities between the Sunsinger and the Dawnblade, many new abilities have been added a few old ones have been reworked. Right now, this all we know about the new Warlock subclass, the Dawnblade in Destiny 2. Be sure to check out our other article on everything we know about Destiny 2.
