PS5 Games We Could See in 2018

Looks like 2018 could be the biggest year in gaming history.

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED and Cyberpunk 2077 are in the news today because it appears someone stole files relating to Cyberpunk 2077 and is demanding a ransom, otherwise they will release those files to the public. They aren’t getting that ransom (nor should they), but the attention made me wonder if Cyberpunk 2077 could be a candidate for a PS5 launch title.

It’s been previously reported that Cyberpunk 2077 is aiming for a mid-2019 release date. If Damian Thong’s PS5 release date prediction is accurate, that puts the game a bit more than six months after the PS5 goes on sale. It’s also worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 will come out on all three major platforms. While Death Stranding has the motivation to release at the same time as its publisher’s next piece of hardware, Cyberpunk 2077 does not.

Cyberpunk 2077 would sell a lot of PS5's if it was a launch title.

Still, the dates are not so far apart that gamers shouldn’t dream about Cyberpunk 2077 being a PS5 launch title. We’re talking about six months. If the PS5 doesn’t come out when Damian Thong predicted, or CD Projekt RED is ahead of schedule with Cyberpunk 2077, things start to make a lot more sense. Still, a bit bigger of a stretch than Death Stranding.
