Crackdown 3 Release Date Announced

Microsoft has finally announced the release date for Crackdown 3.

Crackdown 3 has received its release date and is scheduled to hit our consoles and store shelves on November 7th, 2017. Check out the reveal trailer below.

Originally announced back in August 2014 at Microsoft’s Gamescom segment, Crackdown 3 is the sequel to Crackdown 2, released back in 2010 on the Xbox 360. It’s been seven years since we’ve explore the world of Crackdown, so it’ll be interesting to see how far the series has come.

Crackdown 3 is being developed on Microsoft Azure and will have a heavy focus on mass scale destruction where everything in the world can be destroyed. This was originally shown in a teaser trailer at E3, but since then, more footage has been revealed showcasing this mechanic.

Crackdown creator, Dave Jones, gave IGN a behind-scenes look at Crackdown 3’s multiplayer experience in a pre-alpha build of the title. In this video, Jones shows off the destructible environment, such as being able to shoot holes through walls in order to make sniper’s nets. This is reminiscent of Red Faction: Guerrilla’s destructible environment, but with far more detail and precision.

Destructible buildings and architecture has always been a big part of the Battlefield series, so it’s exciting to see this coming over to a third-person shooting like Crackdown. Instead of maps getting stale and remaining the same each match, adding in a bit of chaos makes each battle unique. Crackdown 3 will be coming to Windows 10, Xbox One, Xbox One X on November 7th, 2017.
