Killer Instinct
Surprisingly absent from the list of games coming to the SNES Classic is Killer Instinct, one of Rare’s greatest successes. This classic fighting game, though matching the same style of Street Fighter, has a host of gameplay differences that would set it aside from Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting that is already included in the Classic.
Killer Instinct offered gameplay mechanics that weren’t present in other fighting games of the time. Instead of having to win rounds, players would have to deplete their opponent’s two health bars. There was also automated combos and combo breakers.
Taking a page out of Mortal Kombat's book, Killer Instinct also included Fatality-like moves where characters could decimate their opponent or humiliate them by forcing them to dance. This is the sort of action we need on the SNES Classic.
