Know Your Enemy’s Tank
Knowing your own tank is half the battle. The other half is recognizing what tank your enemy is using. If you want to get better at World of Tanks, knowing the tanks your enemies are driving is essential.
Whenever you encounter an enemy, if you know what tank they’re driving and understand how it works, you will be able to better engage with it in combat – or even disengage if the strength disparity is too great!
Take for instance the recently released Object 252U, if you know how to destroy the Object 252U and spot one on the enemy team, you will understand where they might go and how to best attack them. Already you’ll be at an advantage and could even provide valuable insight to your teammates.
Another tip is to turn on the extra information in the settings so the tank name and tier is displayed – this will help you learn and remember the different vehicles. It will take time, and there’s no guaranteed way to know them all, but with enough games you’ll begin to learn the tank names rather easily.
A good idea is to begin by grouping them together in similar types. The IS series of Soviets, the Easy8 American vehicles, the WZ Chinese, and so on. This way, when you come across an IS, you will have a basis of knowledge, and then you can change the gameplay depending on the suffix attached – 3, 6, 7, etc.
From there, you can look up tanks you encounter using sites such as tanks.gg, as they are able to show a live rendering of the vehicle. This rendering allows you to check the armor and look for weaknesses. All of this will add up to you being able to immediately recognize the strengths and weaknesses of your enemies so you can defend against and exploit them where necessary.
