3 Ways Download Faster on the PS4

Here are three secrets to faster PS4 downloads that you might not know.

Method 2 – Changing Your DNS

One of the more common reasons your PS4 download speeds are slow is because of your Domain Name System (DNS). You can edit your DNS settings by clicking on the following on your PS4 menu:

  • Settings Network
  • Set Up Internet
  • Connection Use Wi-Fi / Use a LAN Cable (select your preference)
  • Custom
  • Manual

After clicking on Manual, you should see both a Primary DNS option and a Secondary DNS option, both of which you'll be changing. Essentially you'll be changing your DNS to Google's, meaning your internet connection will be faster because you'll be using a multi-billion-dollar DNS. Simply change your Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and your Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4 and proceed with setting up your internet connection.

After your DNS have been changed, you should see a nice speed increase in your PS4 download speeds. This isn't necessarily the best method to improve your speeds, but it's one of the most common tricks and very easy to do, regardless of whether you're on a wireless or ethernet connection.
