7 Things PS4 Could Learn from Xbox One

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Backward Compatibility

This is the big one. Backwards compatibility is something the Xbox One is doing extremely well. Microsoft continues to reward its loyal fanbase by expanding the library of games that are available – and we don’t just mean games you can purchase. The Xbox One allows you to play your old discs without having to repurchase a game you already own.

It gets better as well. Xbox One will soon allow gamers to play their original Xbox games on the Xbox One. For anyone who still has their OG Xbox games, this is huge, as it means no longer having to lug around old hardware just in case you feel like playing an old game.

There are a tonne of new and exciting games coming out, and we want to play all of them, but sometimes you just want to kick back and play some classics. According to Kotaku, Sony removed the PS3’s backwards compatibility as most people were buying a PS3 to play PS3 games. This should come as no surprise, as someone doesn’t purchase a new console just to play old game.

In saying this, it certainly doesn’t hurt a company’s image to throw their loyal fanbase a bone. Microsoft might not have “won” E3 this year, but they certainly made a lasting impression with their decision to bring OG Xbox games into the future. I don’t know about you, but I wish I could play my old PS1 games without having to hook up my original PlayStation.

The PlayStation 4 is still an amazing machine, and the PS4 Pro is kicking ass, but there are always things it could do better. The Xbox One family have a lot of awesome features that we'd love to see included in the PS4. What other features do you want the PS4 to have?
