Destiny 2 Pre-order Bonus and Editions

Every pre-order bundle and bonuses that are still available for Destiny 2!

Destiny 2 is less than a month away, and with time rapidly running out before it hits our respective gaming devices, there’s less time to get your pre-order down. For those that are still trying to decide what edition to pre-order, we’ve done some of the hard work and hopefully made it easier for you to decide.

Destiny 2 Pre-order Versions and Bonuses

Pick your poison. Personally, I like dumb digital stuff I won't use after a week, so I got the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The good news is that every pre-order of Destiny 2 will receive the Coldheart Exotic Rifle. This rifle spews out a solid beam of energy similar to the Link Gun from Unreal Tournament or a Sleeper Simulant that doesn’t need charging up but instead fires a steady-stream of laser-y goodness.

Standard Edition

The Standard Edition of Destiny 2 is the bare bones, just the game. This is ideal for people who aren’t too sure about Destiny 2, whether it’s because they’re still upset over Destiny 1 or maybe aren’t sure whether this whole “Destiny fad” is for them.

Digital Standard Edition

Exactly like the Standard Edition, but this one is purely digital. No Blu-ray, no plastic box. This is downloaded directly to your gaming machine.

Game + Expansion Pass

Included in this bundle is the Destiny 2 base game and the Expansion Pass. This saves you roughly $5 USD instead of buying the Expansion Pass later. For those who know they’re going to be around to play the Expansions, buying this one is a no-brainer. If you’re not sure about whether Destiny 2 will be your jam, the extra $5 for the standalone Expansion Pass is spare change.

Expansion Pass

The Expansion Pass includes two pieces of DLC, which appear to be about Osiris and Rasputin. A man and a robot.

As the name suggests, the Expansion Pass is just the DLC. Don’t make the mistake of buying only this, as you need the base game to play it. The Expansions are set to release in Winter 2017 (December to March) and Spring 2018 (March to June) – so there’s plenty of time to decide if you want this (you probably will).

Digital Deluxe Edition

The Destiny 2 Digital Deluxe Edition is where it gets a bit more serious. The Digital Deluxe Edition nets you the base game, Expansion Pass, and a whole lot of Premium Digital Content. You get a Legendary Sword, Legendary Player Emote, and Cabal Empire Themed Emblem. All of these are in-game items – nothing physical.

There was a Limited Edition and Collector’s Edition, but they’ve been sold out for quite a while now, so don’t fret about trying to pick one up. Although, chances are, someone is likely to sell theirs on eBay if you were really keen on picking one up.

Destiny 2 is releasing on September 6 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and on October 24 on PC. Make sure to check out our Destiny 2 hub to keep up to date on all things Destiny 2!
