Object 263

Finally, we have an incredibly underrated and semi-recently buffed Tank Destroyer at Tier 10. I’ve been playing this thing quite a bit recently and picked up my Tank Destroyer Mission 15 for the Object 260 in it. I can’t say how glad I am to have finally found a Tank Destroyer that I don’t hate playing.

Normally I find the class too restricting. Tank Destroyers typically sacrifice everything platform-wise for some oversized, clunky gun that misses every other shot due to the ridiculous calibre. Not the Object 263. This thing’s mobility is outstanding for a vehicle with such respectable frontal armor, and I love everything about the firepower. 550 alpha damage reminds me of a Jagdtiger’s 128mm (except this time it’s on a platform that doesn’t suck), with a crazy 290mm of penetration. 0.31 dispersion ensures you’ll hit every shot you fully aim unless RNG really hates you, and the gun handling isn’t too shabby either.

I didn’t always enjoy the 263, however. I could never work around the incredibly flat mantlet armor, which at a mere 250mm allowed anything with decent penetration (such as certain Mediums, all Tank Destroyers, or any gold round) to punch right through it. That was changed in recent times, as the 263 was given an additional 250mm of hull armor behind the mantlet armor, totalling over 500mm effective armor. This only applies to the outer rim of the mantlet, but it made the weak spot so much smaller the change truly is significant. For anyone else sick of missing every other shot you take in a Jagdpanzer E 100, try out the Object 263.

That wraps up my list for the Top 10 Russian Tanks in World of Tanks. Were there any vehicles in the tech tree that you expected to see on here that otherwise didn’t quite make it?
