Dual pistols enter Fortnite's arena

More bang for your V-buck.

Fortnite's latest addition to Battle Royale is a new weapon, the Dual Pistols.

Arriving in the 4.5 update, this deadly new pairing comes in Epic and Legendary variants. If you're looking to get your hands on them, the good news is they'll appear as floor loot as well as in chests and supply drops. The beefy handcannons deal a chunky 41-43 base damage per shot, which is pretty nifty. Here's a quick clip of the guns in action from the Fortnite Twitter account:

Don't expect to be sniping players from miles away however, as the pistols don't benefit from the first shot accuracy that rifles and other weapons get. Keeping them as a secondary until medium to close range makes sense in most cases, though why you'd take them over the game's incredibly powerful shotguns remains to be seen. Still, there's little cooler and blasting your way forward with a gun in each hand.

The 4.5 update also brought in a number of balance changes and new features including a buff to the game's Tactical and Silenced SMGs as well as a new playground mode (which has been temporarily brought offline to work on bug fixes). In addition, you should now be able to see beacons lit up wherever you and your friends mark on the map, which should make coordinating your drops from the battle bus an awful lot easier. Check out the full patch notes here.

In other Fortnite news, Sony has remained cagey regarding Fortnite cross-play options, acknowledging complaints but so far failing to do anything about it.
