Slime Rancher oozes onto PS4 next month

Goo news, everybody!

Bouncy and lovable life sim Slime Rancher is coming to PS4 on August 21, over a year after its PC and Xbox One debut in 2017. Behold, the ridiculously cute trailer!

The first-person openworld game casts you as Beatrix LeBeau, having left Earth to set up a farm on the distant planet of Far Far Range. Using your "VacPack" you explore the planet, sucking up different slime species as well as food items to keep them healthy. Back at the ranch, your slimes poop out something called "Splorts" which you can sell for cash or use to create crossbreed slimes. Probably best not to look too deeply into the biology behind that process.

The original game was very well received last year, and was nominated for various awards including a BAFTA. If you pre-order the PS4 version, you'll get a dynamic theme for your console that shifts the bucolic ranch scenery from day to night.

Dan has been playing games since the 1980s, and doesn't plan on stopping any time soon. Also, get off his lawn. You can contact him by email if you need to know exactly how to leave his lawn.
