How to get Chromatic Metal in No Man's Sky Next

Learn how to craft Chromatic Metal and build your own bases in No Man's Sky's Next update.

No Man's Sky Next has launched, adding a huge spread of new features to the game. Included in the update are some new resource types including Chromatic Metal which is required for base building. If you're looking to establish your own little place on any of No Man's Sky's generated worlds, Chromatic Metal is a must have. In this article we'll teach you how to get Chromatic Metal in No Man's Sky Next.

How to get Chromatic Metal

Chromatic Metal is brand new to No Man's Sky Next, but certainly essential. To craft it, you'll need a portable refiner. Fortunately, making one of those is pretty simple. You can craft a portable refiner anywhere on the planet, and all you need is some Metal Plating and Oxygen.  If you're short of those, the Metal Plating can be made directly from your inventory with basic materials, while Oxygen can be found on every planet you visit. One you have them both, simply craft the refiner and you'llbe well on your way to building the bases of your dreams.

With your refiner at the ready, you need only throw in some metals to start producing Chromatic Metal. Cadmium, Copper, Emeril and Iridium can all be placed in the refiner to start producing Chromatic Metal. The game will walk you through these steps if you started a new save file for Next, and even rewards you by offering an objective to complete by producing the refiner.

That's all there is to producing Chromatic Metal, but make sure to take a look at all the other No Man's Sky Next content we have here on AllGamers to help you on your way!
