How to reset Valor Rank in Destiny 2

Resetting your Valor Rank is simple in Destiny 2, provided you're willing to put in the Crucible hours.

Destiny 2’s Valor Rank is a personal point of pride for the Crucible, letting you rise through the ranks of Guardians to earn your place as a Legend. Reaching the top feels great, but Destiny 2 doesn’t want you to simple rest on your laurels, and for that reason many items require you to reset your Valor Rank.

Earning Valor Ranks points is as simple as competing in matches, with longer win streaks earning you more and more points. In order to reset your rank, you’ll need to reach the maximum possible Valor Rank points. The highest title you can obtain is Legend at 1800 points, but you won’t max out until you’ve earned another 200 to put you at 2000 Valor Rank points. In case you’re not sure where you are in the ranking scale, check the table below for each level and the points required:

Rank

Valor Rank Points

Guardian

0

Brave

50

Heroic

350

Fabled

700

Mythic

1150

Legend

1800

Surpass Legend to reach 2000 Valor Rank points and you’ll open up the ability to reset your rank all the way back down to the start. To do so, you simply need to open up the Director, and while in the Crucible node take a look at the Quickplay Playlist by hovering over it. Here you should receive a dialogue box offering the chance to reset your rank, granting gear, an Emblem and progress towards any items that demand it. Accept this by holding the specified button and you’ll be done, simple as that!

Resetting your rank will return you all the way back to a zero-point Guardian, but don’t fear, you’re free to grind your way back up as many times as you like in a Season. Bear in mind however that at the end of each Season all Valor Ranks and points will be reset to zero, so don’t kill yourself grinding the Crucible if there isn’t even enough time to reach the top!

To summarize:

  • Reach 2000 Valor Points
  • Hover over the Quickplay Playlist in the Crucible node
  • Choose to reset your rank and lose all Valor Rank Points

You might be back to basics after resetting your rank, but there’s no need to enter any part of Destiny 2 unprepared when you have our guides at hand. We have plenty to check out, including how to get Redrix’s Claymore or how to best earn those much-needed elemental orbs.
