Watch the all-star recording session from Halo 2's epic soundtrack

Composer Marty O'Donnell has shared the behind-the-scenes footage.

The Halo soundtrack is one of the most iconic gaming scores of the last twenty years, and while composer Marty O'Donnell parted ways with developer Bungie under controversial circumstances, he's clearly - and quite rightly - still very proud of the work he did on Master Chief's groundbreaking early adventures.

Now O'Donnell has dusted off some footage from the recording sessions on Halo 2, having found the home-made DVD he shot at the time.

With a little help from fans in ripping the video and uploading it to YouTube, we can now see what it looks like when one of the leading video game composers gets in the studio with legendary musicians Steve Vai and Nile Rodgers to craft the theme music for our first-person shooter fantasies.

Whether you're a Halo fan, a music fan, or just like seeing how the sausage is made, it's a half-hour well spent.
